Bucks Fizz business networking club based in Buckingham welcomed Jill Townsend to their meeting this week to present a cheque for £150 to help with this year’s Buckingham Summer Club. Jill gave members and visitors to Bucks Fizz an insight into the Club, how it started, its objectives and how people can get involved.

The Buckingham Summer Club invites children of 3 to 8 years old, accompanied by an adult, to attend free sessions over the summer holidays. These include a range of activities, such as a craft table, dressing-up corner, a story corner, a dinosaur table, or even “shark fishing” from a paddling pool. At the end of the session each child is given a takeaway bag full of ideas with instructions and all the materials needed to do a craft at home. There is a snack pack, and they can also choose a book to take home to read with their family along a toy.
The Buckingham Summer Club is run under the umbrella of The Swan Community Hub. It relies on volunteers to run the sessions and, with all the sessions being completely free at the point of delivery, grants and donations to finance the initiative. Businesses and individuals can sponsor the club to buy materials and refreshments for the children and adults. To find out more send Jill an email.
